Someone once said to me that an individual often has themes that emerge in his or her life. I believe this to be true. As can easily be gathered from previous posts, one of mine seems to be learning to make the most of life, regardless of the circumstances. There are some things that we cannot change, but we can only change how we react to them.
That being said, I think it is important that we really begin to take a good long look at ourselves and our lives. Are we really the people that we thought we would be? Are you who you want to be? Are you spending your time the way you think you should? How better could you spend your time? Are you living or working towards living out your dreams or are you dwelling in your disappointment? Has the busy-ness of life consumed your energy and your time? -- two of your most precious resources.
I do not have to look far in my life to see people who are burned out, stressed out, maxed out, tired out, and down and out. My heart aches and breaks for these people who are burdened. Circumstances and responsibilities often largely affect why people are so "cumbered with a load of care", as an old hymn says. Although some of these things cannot be changed, we can look at these situations in a new light and focus on how those experiences can be used for our good and to make us stronger.
It is human nature to quickly forget how much we have to be thankful for. By being grateful for the essential things of life (clean air, food, a bed to sleep in, people to love and who love us, etc) it definitely helps you to focus on what you have instead of what you don't. Cultivate an attitute of gratitude. Besides, what DON'T you have to be thankful for? Being thankful for difficult situations is one of the most difficult things on earth to do; however, it helps you to see things from a non-gloom-and-doom perspective...Causing you to appreciate life for all of its ebbs and flows.
Peace out.
